Tutorial: How to Use the Calculator

Follow these steps to estimate materials and costs for a framed wall project:

  1. Enter Project Information: Provide the project name, location, client details, date, and the name of the person preparing the estimate in the "Project Info" tab.
  2. Define Wall Parameters: In the same tab, input the wall length, height, and areas of doors and windows to calculate the total wall area.
  3. Add Material Layers: Switch to the "Materials" tab, click "Add Material Layer" to select a material (e.g., Gypsum Board), choose its type, thickness, dimension, cost, waste factor, and specify plies for one or both sides.
  4. Set Cost Parameters: Go to the "Costs" tab to input currency, material/accessory costs, daily labor wage, number of laborers, preparation/cleanup times, and additional cost percentages (contingency, overhead, equipment, profit).
  5. Calculate Results: Click the "Calculate" button to see the results, including material quantities, accessory needs, labor details, and total costs.
  6. Download PDF: Use the "Download as PDF" button to generate a professional report for documentation or client sharing.
  7. Reset (Optional): Click the "Reset" button to clear all inputs and start a new estimation.

Tip: Use the placeholder values as a starting point and adjust based on your project specifics.

Guidelines & Formulas

This calculator estimates materials and costs for constructing framed walls based on provided parameters.

Wall Area & Material Quantity:
Wall Area = (Length × Height) - (Door Area + Window Area)
Material Quantity = Ceiling(Wall Area / Unit Area of Material) × (1 + Waste Factor%) × Total Plies
Accessories for Framed Walls:
Studs = Ceiling(Length / 0.6) × Height × Total Plies
Tracks = 2 × Length × Total Plies
Screws = Ceiling(Wall Area × 25) × Total Plies
Joint Compound = Wall Area × 0.5 × Total Plies
Sealant = Length × 0.1 × Total Plies
Labor Estimation:
Installation Days = Wall Area / Productivity Rate
Total Days = (Preparation Days + Installation Days + Cleanup Days) / Number of Laborers
Total Labor Cost = Daily Wage per Laborer × Number of Laborers × Total Days
Labor Cost per m² = Total Labor Cost / Wall Area
Cost Estimation:
Material Cost = Σ(Material Quantity × Cost per Unit)
Accessory Cost = Σ(Accessory Quantity × Cost per Unit)
Contingency Cost = (Material Cost + Accessory Cost + Labor Cost) × Contingency%
Overhead Cost = (Base Costs) × Overhead%
Equipment Cost = (Base Costs) × Equipment%
Profit Cost = (Base Costs + Contingency + Overhead + Equipment) × Profit Margin%
Total Cost = Material Cost + Accessory Cost + Labor Cost + Contingency Cost + Overhead Cost + Equipment Cost + Profit Cost
